Smart glasses are a global problem, so Stop Smart Glasses has been built to travel.

We've made the campaign open source so people in other countries can use what we've already built rather than starting from scratch. You can adapt the campaign for your country, add your own retailers, laws, political routes and local actions, and launch Stop Smart Glasses where you live.

You do not need to be a developer to get involved.

## What I want to build

I want a simple website or web tool that helps people take peaceful, lawful action concerning the promotion and mass-market sale of consumer camera-assisted and AI-assisted smart glasses.

The tool should help visitors, where relevant and possible, to:

1. Find relevant retailers or organisations in their area.
2. Understand what action they can take.
3. Contact those organisations using a ready-written message that they can review and edit themselves.
4. Find relevant elected representatives or government bodies using reliable public information.
5. Find petitions, consultations or other legitimate democratic actions where appropriate.
6. Access trustworthy evidence and original sources about the issue.

## Campaign scope

The campaign concerns mass-market consumer glasses capable of camera-based capture or AI visual analysis of people and their surroundings.

Do not automatically include specialist industrial, enterprise or controlled-workplace AR systems.

Do not oppose assistive technology. Stop Smart Glasses supports smart-glasses technology that enables accessibility and independence for blind and visually impaired people, disabled people and others who rely on assistive technology.

## Principles

The tool must:

- be peaceful, lawful and non-harassing;
- help people contact organisations constructively;
- never encourage threats, abuse, intimidation or targeting individuals;
- distinguish facts from campaign opinion;
- link to original evidence wherever possible;
- never invent retailers, addresses, email addresses, politicians, laws, statistics or sources;
- make clear when information has not been verified;
- minimise collection of personal information;
- collect no personal information unless genuinely necessary;
- avoid behavioural tracking and advertising technology unless there is a compelling reason;
- be accessible on mobile devices and usable with assistive technologies.

## Start with research, not code

Before building anything, help me establish:

A. What retailers sell or promote relevant consumer smart glasses in my country.
B. What reliable public data exists for their locations and contact details.
C. Which government bodies, elected representatives or regulators are relevant.
D. What petitions, consultations or democratic processes already exist.
E. Which laws and regulations may be relevant.
F. What privacy obligations will apply to the website/tool itself.
G. Whether any proposed feature requires personal data, cookies, analytics, location information or third-party services.

Use authoritative sources for legal and government information.

Do not give me legal advice or claim that a law definitely applies where that has not been established.

Show me your sources and clearly identify anything that still requires human verification.

## Build the simplest useful version first

Do not build an unnecessarily complicated platform.

Prefer a simple website that:

- works well on phones;
- is easy for a non-technical person to maintain;
- uses minimal dependencies;
- collects as little data as possible;
- does not require user accounts;
- does not require visitors to provide their name or email address;
- does not send messages automatically on somebody's behalf;
- lets visitors review and choose whether to send any suggested message themselves.

If location search is useful, first investigate the least privacy-invasive way to implement it.

Do not expose API keys, passwords or other secrets in public website code.

## Work with me step by step

Do not build the entire project immediately.

First ask me the minimum questions you need about my country and what I want the first version to achieve.

Then give me:

1. A plain-English plan.
2. Proposed features for version one.
3. What information/data we need.
4. Privacy and security considerations.
5. Anything requiring human verification.
6. The simplest recommended technical approach.
7. An estimated sequence for building and testing it.

Wait for my approval before beginning the build.

When we start building, complete one stage at a time and tell me exactly what you are doing and why.

Never make something live, publish it, change DNS, purchase a service, send communications or make an irreversible change without asking me first.

## Before publishing

Building the tool is only part of the job. Before helping me publish my campaign website, make sure we have addressed the things that protect both my visitors and me.

At a minimum, help me check:

- Privacy: What data my website collects, why, where it goes and how long it is kept, including third-party services, forms, analytics and location/postcode tools.
- Terms: Whether I need website terms and what they should cover.
- Cookies and tracking: Whether the site uses cookies, analytics, embedded services or other tracking technologies, and what consent or disclosures may be required.
- Image rights: That I have permission or a valid licence for every photograph, graphic or other piece of third-party content I publish, including any attribution requirements. Keep evidence of licences and attribution requirements.
- Accuracy: That retailer details, government contacts, legal claims, statistics and other factual information have been verified.
- Accessibility and security: That the site has been tested and is not unnecessarily collecting or exposing people's personal information.

Do not assume that because you helped me build something, these requirements have automatically been dealt with.

Flag anything that needs independent professional or legal advice.

Do not make claims about the law unless they can be supported by reliable sources.

## Test before launch

Before recommending publication, help me check:

- every link;
- every retailer/contact record;
- mobile display;
- accessibility basics;
- privacy implications;
- forms and location searches;
- spelling and wording;
- factual claims and sources;
- security;
- whether any personal information is being collected;
- whether the privacy notice accurately describes what the tool actually does;
- website terms;
- cookies and tracking;
- image rights and required credits.

Give me a final checklist of anything that requires a human to verify.

Anything you help me create is ultimately my responsibility.

Remind me that I must independently check the legal, privacy, data protection, website terms, cookies and tracking, image rights, accessibility and security requirements that apply where I live before publishing.

The goal is not to build an enormous technology platform.

The goal is to give ordinary people a simple way to take informed, peaceful and practical action — even if the person building it has never written a line of code before.
